Cloud Gate Dance Theatre Redefines Movement
The curtain rose. The set was a blank canvas. The costumes were so minimalist they didn’t seem like clothing. The BGM was like sound before there was music. The dancers were moving more slowly than kabuki performers. The company was doing the same thing to the audience that it does to its trainees: clearing their thoughts.
大音希聲 "Loud is its sound, but never was it said."
老子曾經說過：「大音希聲。」這句話可以解釋成：最完美的音樂是自然天成而未經過人工修飾的。不過從現今的科學知識來說，這句話也有道理：無論是過大的音量或是過高的頻率，其實一般人的耳朵是聽不到的。
Laozi once said, "Dà yīn xī shēng (Loud is its sound, but never was it said)." This idiom implies that the perfect music occurs naturally, without any fine-tuning. From a scientific perspective, it suggests that human ears are unable to perceive relatively high or low audio frequencies no matter how loud they are.
我所認識的台灣
我小時候跟爸爸一起看電視上的歷史紀錄片的時候大概是自己第一次聽到臺灣這個名詞。那些充滿戰役的片子，一定談到過國共內戰，還有國民黨 1949年退到臺灣島的歷史。在那個時候，我大概把「臺灣」跟不列顛空戰、中途島之役、硫磺島戰役，這些有名戰役的名字都混在一起了。
不久以後，我們全家就搬到休斯頓，也很快認識了住我們那條街的一個臺灣來的男孩子...
