在秋風徐徐、秋陽煦煦的天候中,2009-2010學年度正式展開了。今年度新生一如IUP到ICLP以來的特質,以美國長春藤盟校學生為主流,歐裔學生佔74%, 亞裔佔26%;中高程度佔65%;初階程度佔35%。男性佔54.24%,女性佔45.76%。
The ICLP 2009-2010 Academic Year Program has commenced along with the delightful Autumn breeze and mild sunshine.
The background of the new students remains the same as that of the IUP period. Namely, elites from institutions such as Ivy League universities form the mainstream. Among all the students, 74% are Caucasians while 26% are Asians; 65% are intermediate and advanced students while 35% are elementary-level students; and 54.24% are male while 45.76% are female.
9/23(三)上午三個小時的新生說明會上,新生們各個文質彬彬,聆聽著學校各項說明。在諸多新面孔之間,看到了幾位回讀的舊生,倍感親切。新生也一如過往,在正式上課後,很快就適應了ICLP以口說帶動聽、讀、寫四項技能同時到位的學習模式,也很快就與教師團隊、行政人員打成一片了。
The Orientation of the 2009-2010 Program took place on the 23rd of September, welcoming all the new students. Apart from new students, a couple of returning students also presented at the session to share not only their precious experience at ICLP but also their hospitality to the new blood.
After the term began, students are getting accustomed to the ICLP’s exclusive teaching method – a combination of listening, reading and writing initiated from a rigorous oral training, and it is good to know that they also soon familiarized themselves with the teachers and staff.
看到新生們努力適應著ICLP學習生活,心裡確知明年此時,人人的漢語都能朗朗上口,隨時能夠以口頭演說。每位都將各自返國或就學或就業,有的甚至於留在臺大繼續攻讀學位,有的在北京、上海、香港等地就業。同時,也思念著去年度畢業的校友們是否都安好?非常想念你們,也非常感謝你們為ICLP留下美好的回憶。
The beginning of the year brings a mixture of emotions to me. On one hand, seeing how hardworking the new students are, I can foresee how well they will excel in Chinese by the time next year, and will then be moving on to a promising career field in their home country or in Greater China. In the meanwhile, thinking of the ICLP alumni makes me feel nostalgic. I hope they are all doing very well and I’d like to thank them for creating beautiful memories for us.
回顧2008-2009這一年,ICLP開創了哪些新格局。
Below is a list of developments ICLP accomplished in the past year:
就教學與學習效益而論,落實走出教室,進行實踐語言的精神。由學生撰寫企畫書與教師團隊、行政團隊溝通、協商,落實如下方案:
1. 成立學生編輯採訪部,發行電子報雙週刊,建立將語言課堂學習吸收的語言工具轉換為語言能力與工作能力的平台。
2. 建立語伴制度,ICLP學生與臺大外文系學生平日交遊,定期聚會,做專題討論與交流。
3. 與師訓班學員建立春節接待家庭網絡,讓學生體驗年節文化,結交友人。
4. 舉辦跨校辯論大賽,邀請臺大建言社,政大演辯社等舉行辯論大賽,一來檢驗第二語言學習成果,二來與台灣的大學菁英交流。
With respect to teaching and learning efficiency: practical language learning outside the classroom achieved
1. Student interviewer and editor team is developed, issuing biweekly newsletters. This helps students make use of the language learnt from classroom in real life which enables them to transfer one’s “language ability” to “work ability”.
2. language partner system: Frequent cultural exchanges, meetings and discussions are held between ICLP students and students of the Department of Foreign Language at NTU.
3. Chinese New Year “home-stay networking system” creates cultural exposure and friend-making opportunities.
4. interscholastic debate competition: Both NTU and NCCU debate societies were invited to the competition. This not only helps ICLP students evaluate their language ability but to exchange ideas with Taiwanese elites.
就課程開發與教材編寫而論
1. 開發美國UCSB與韓國釜山大學短期密集課程,建立語言文化體驗課程的模式。
2. 與北京語言大學合作開發海外師訓班課程,擴展國際視野。
3. 全面更新《中國文化叢談》、《新編會話》、《新聞與觀點》版本,編寫《300句典》系列自學型教材、《史記導讀》、《TOCC》教師手冊。
With respect to course development and material compilation:
1. Short-term Chinese language programs for UCSB and Pusan National University (South Korea) offer great opportunities for language and culture learning.
2. Chinese Teacher Training Program in Beijing Language and Culture University helps broaden one’s horizon.

就教學研究而論
1. 邀請專家學者培訓在職教師。如:鄧守信教授、白健華教授、靳洪剛教授、邢志群教授等。
2. 所內教師專題系列演講,教師就個人研究專長與全體教師團隊分享。
3. 核心教材生詞表更新,全面落實鄧守信教授漢語詞類體系,提升學習效益。
4. 通過ACTFL2009學術年會小組論文審核,小組成員獲教育部補助。
With respect to teaching and research:
1. in-service teacher training program conducted by professionals, e.g. Prof. Dèng, Shǒu-xìn, Prof. Bái, Jiàn-huá, Prof. Jìn, Hóng-gāng, Prof. Xíng, Zhì-qún.
2. series speeches, e.g. research carried out by ICLP teachers
3. glossary revision: A very useful system of Chinese part of speech developed by Prof. Dèng, Shǒu-xìn is applied.
4. proposal submitted by ICLP team members accepted by ACTFL 2009 and funded by Ministry of Education
就制度而論
1. 推動月薪專任制度,鼓勵教師發揮個人長才。
2. 改革期末學習成就評量,由學術研討會形式的口頭成果發表取代傳統教務處一對一口考。
3. 建立臺大計中帳號L群組系統,學生擁有IC卡學生證。
4. 承租太子學舍,提供學生住宿臺大宿舍,教師承租修齊會館。
5. ICLP活動加入臺大首頁信息與NTU NEWS LETTER。
With respect to system:
1. A new salary system for “monthly-paid” instructors has been drawn up in order to encourage teacher’s full devotion to ICLP.
2. evaluation system revision: Final presentation replaced one-on-one speaking test.
3. ICLP students are offered official NTU student IDs.
4. ICLP students and teachers are offered a brand-new accommodation at NTU Prince House.
5. ICLP events are included in the NTU main page and in the NTU Newsletter.
就硬體設施而論
1. 全面綠化空間,營造舒適人文環境。
2. 教師除了個人教室兼研究室之外,擁有個人置物櫃。
3. 主辦公室重新空間規劃,有效利用空間。
4. 全面清洗窗戶,創造窗明几淨的環境。
5. 規劃ICLP分部-史坦威大樓規劃。
With respect to facility:
1. ICLP goes green to create a cozier learning environment.
2. Each teacher is assigned a classroom (research room) and a locker.
3. main office remodeled

5. A sketch of a branch school at Steinway Hall is in process.
ICLP這一年來的成果,都是全所師生與行政團隊共同的努力。我們以積極、樂觀的態度迎接2009-2010新學年度。
Without the efforts made by the entire ICLP team, the above developments would not have become possible. We will certainly work harder this year and are anticipating an even rosier 2009-2010 academic year.
