Director Leung, Zhou Laoshi, Fann Laoshi, Program Secretary Joanna, and Business Manager I-Chi just recently returned from a tour of four Italian universities. They met with International Affairs departments, heads of Chinese departments, and Chinese teachers to discuss exchange student programs at Roma Tre University, University of Milan, University of Venice, and the University of Naples - L'Orientale. Zhou Laoshi and Fann Laoshi also taught a couple of demonstration classes. Some of the highlights of the trip were discovering that more students at the University of Venice study Chinese than any other foreign language including English. Chinese has been taught at the University of Naples - L'Orientale since the eighteenth century. In light of the appeal and history of learning Chinese in Italy, this trip proved to be quite a success by not only increasing ties with these universities but also developing interest in a student exchange program with ICLP.
