Every year ICLP leads a three day expedition to Central Taiwan to observe one of the most breathtaking examples of Taiwan folk religion, the Mazu Procession. On the way students enjoy a variety of other cultural activities. This year ICLP teacher and chaperone Fann Meei-yuan offers students a chance to become amateur anthropologists for the weekend. She hopes to enhance everyone’s cultural and Chinese-learning experience by including an informal survey research component. The survey, while optional, gives students the chance to interact more deeply with local residents, including artists, dancers, religious practitioners, and artisans. Make sure to attend the informational meeting on Friday 9 at 12:10pm. Click here to preview the presentation materials.
